Juan Soto (DK: $4,100 FD: $4,000): Our first Must-Have of tonight’s slate is young phenom, Juan Soto. Soto draws a matchup against right-hander Jake Arrieta, who has struggled mightily against left-handed hitters, allowing 2.39 HR/9, a 7.06 FIP, a hard-hit rate of almost 42 percent, a .238 ISO, and a whopping .389 wOBA. Soto has already homered twice off of Arrieta in six career at bats as well. Against right-handed arms this season, Soto has posted very solid numbers with an .896 OPS, .218 ISO, .382 wOBA, and a hard-hit rate just under 40 percent. Arrieta offers up the sinker... Read More
Justin Upton (DK: $3,900 FDuel: $3,700): He’s baaaaaaaaaaaaack! Our first Must-Have of this 12-game slate will be right-handed slugger, Justin Upton. Upton has been recalled off the 60-day IL and will return to the heart of the Angles’ lineup in a juicy matchup against Edwin Jackson. In a huge sample last season, Justin Upton proved to be a reverse splits hitter with a .370 xwOBA and .235 xISO against right-handers. Edwin Jackson has been horrific overall this season, but against righties he has already given up eight homeruns in 12 innings of work. He’s allowed a .417 AVG, .577 wOBA,... Read More
Chad Pinder (DK: $3,400 FD: $2,600): Our first Must-Have for the main slate won’t break the bank but has plenty of upside as well. Chad Pinder will be stepping into the box against left-hander Wade LeBlanc for the majority of his at-bats after Gerson Bautista is expected to open this game up. LeBlanc is allowing right-handers in 2019 to hit him to the tune of a .252 xISO, .395 xwOBA, 40.2% fly-balls, 1.97 HR/9, and a 5.69 FIP. Pinder is a lefty crusher and currently holds down an .846 OPS, .215 ISO, .292 average, .353 wOBA, and over a 48%... Read More
Juan Soto (DK: $4,700 FD: $3,800): Through 164 plate appearances against righties this season, Soto has some hefty advanced metrics. An .870 OPS and .207 ISO are solid numbers and his hard hit rate of 39% suggests those are reliable data points. Dating back to last season, he was even more powerful, with an OPS of .949 and an ISO of .231. Soto is facing Taylor Clarke today who has just 25.2 innings under his belt in the majors. Clarke, however, has had an xFIP over 4.4 in each of his last three seasons in AAA and isn’t off to... Read More
Manny Machado (DK: $4,300 FD: $4,000): Not only will Manny Machado be in Coors Field tonight, but we also have a favorite type of matchup for the DFI team since this one is a double-reverse splits matchup. Machado will be taking on Jeff Hoffman of the Colorado Rockies who is having great difficulties to right-handed hitters this season, allowing a .467 wOBA, .368 ISO, 46% fly-ball rate, and 46% hard-hit rate. While he has increased the use of his curveball this season (which has given him a higher strikeout rate), curveballs are not the same at Coors Field which is... Read More
