Alex DeBrincat (DK: $6,200 FD: $6,800): Our lone Must-Have for today’s afternoon slate gets a good matchup when the Chicago Blackhawks take on the traveling Detroit Red Wings. As of right now, Vegas is listing the Blackhawks as solid home favorites (-165), and with a total set for 6.5 goals, we can expect plenty of pucks finding the back of the net in this one. The Red Wings will be playing their second game in as many nights, after losing to the Sabres by a score of 3-1 last night. The Red Wings projected goalie for today is Jonathan Bernier, and he has been awful this year. He comes into this game with a record of 6-12-2, to go along with a GAA of 3.34, and SV% of .898%, which both rank among the worst for active goaltenders in the league. DeBrincat is having a fantastic season this year, as he comes into this game with 50 points (28G, 22A), to go along with 156 shots on net in 55 games played. He comes into this game riding a massive 7 game point streak, in which he has recorded 12 points, and shot the puck on net over 19 times. He’ll get an excellent chance to continue his hot streak going against a Red Wings team that currently surrenders over 8.71 DK points per game to opposing LW’s, which is 7th highest in the league. The Red Wings currently give up over 33 shots on net per game to opposing teams this year, and this bodes well for DeBrincat, who currently fires the puck on net a little under 3 times per game. He’ll be playing his average of 17 minutes of ice time on the second line, and top power play unit, where he has scored a team-leading 9 power play goals, and 18 power play points, which is good for 2nd on his team. The Red Wings should have a tough time defending the Blackhawks 22% conversion rate on the powerplay, as their penalty kill (77%), is 7th worst in the league. All in all, DeBrincat makes for a great play on today’s slate, so make sure he’s locked in with confidence this evening as our lone Must-Have.
