Tomas Hertl (DK: $6,300 FD: $6,500): Our first Must-Have gets a nice matchup on home ice tonight when the Florida Panthers travel to San Jose to take on the Sharks. As of right now, the Sharks are coming in as heavy favorites (-210), and with a total set for 6.5 goals, we can expect many pucks finding the back of the net in this one. San Jose has been one of the more dominant teams on home ice this year, as they’re scoring over 4 goals per game when on home ice. Florida has been atrocious on the road recently, as they’ve given up exactly 4 goals per game on the road over their last 6 road games. Hertl has been playing great hockey recently, as he comes into this game with a nice 6 game point streak, in which he has recorded 3G, 4A, to go along with 16 shots on net. He plays and average of 19 minutes of ice time centering the second line, and playing on the top power play line. Hertl’s 31 goals and 62 total points each rank him 2nd on his team. He also has 10 power play goals, which is also good for 2nd on his team. Although Florida is currently killing off 81% of their penalties, they should have their hands full going against a Sharks team that currently converts on over 25% of their power plays, which is good for 6th in the league. Hertl has an exceptional price tag across the industry, and he can be safely placed into all lineups tonight.
Brayden Schenn (DK: $5,500 FD: $6,200): Tonight’s second Must-Have should have an even better matchup when his St. Louis Blues travel to Ottawa to take on the Senators. As of right now, Vegas is listing the Blues as the second heaviest favorites tonight (-250), with a total set for 6 goals. Ottawa is pathetic defensively, as they’ve given up over 4.1 goals per game over their last 8 games, which is also higher than their league worst 3.70 goals against over the course of the season. The Blues have struggled a bit, as they’ve only scored 2.5 goals per game over their last 8 games, which is lower than their 2.9 goals per game over the season, but this is a perfect matchup to pour on the goals. Schenn has stepped up since the injury to Vladimir Tarasenko, and has chipped in 7 points (3G, 4A), and 16 shots on goal. He’ll be playing his average of 19 minutes on both the team’s top line, and top power play unit. Much like every position, Ottawa struggles against opposing LW’s are they’re giving up over 8.70 DraftKings points per game to LW’s, which is 7th highest in the league. This is a soft matchup that the Blues should be able to exploit, and Schenn has an extremely price tag, so make sure he’s locked in alongside Hertl.
