Mohamed Salah (DK: $10,800): The first Must-Have for the final slate of the Premier League season is Liverpool superstar, Mohamed Salah. Though the Premier League champion has been finalized for quite some time now, Championship Sunday still holds some meaning to clubs across the Premier League. This is especially true for Liverpool, who will qualify for the Champions League and ensure a top 4 finish with a victory or draw against Brighton. Liverpool’s season has been deemed a success as they have made the Champions League final, though they will have little to show for it if they fail to win against Brighton. This would allow the opportunity for Chelsea to leapfrog the club and claim the final Champions League spot, leaving Liverpool with a difficult matchup against Real Madrid if they wish to compete in the premier European competition next season. Unsurprisingly, Liverpool enter as the heaviest favorites on the slate due to the circumstances of the match and the favorable matchup against Brighton. Furthermore, the match is being played at Anfield, where Liverpool have yet to lose in the Premier League this season. Brighton’s away record is also considerably bad as the club have accrued the second least points when playing away from home. With Brighton assured of their Premier League status next season, the club will have little to play for, allowing Liverpool to capitalize. Liverpool’s attack has been their biggest strength this season, and Mohamed Salah has been the primary catalyst behind Liverpool’s success. Salah has taken the world by storm through his goalscoring ability as well as his creativity; the Egyptian winger leads the Premier League in goals scored with 31 while also contributing 9 assists. Salah’s high shot volume adds to his floor; coupled with the favorable matchup, the Egyptian attacker has both a stable floor and a high ceiling. Though Salah has not found the back of the net in his last three matches (all competitions), the winger had a staggering 11 goals and 4 assists in the previous seven matches. Due to a combination of these factors, we recommend locking in the Liverpool winger as the first Must-Have of the slate.
Willian (DK: $8,600): The second Must-Have for Championship Sunday’s slate is Willian, the Brazilian attacker for Chelsea. Chelsea enter the match as favorites away from home against a Newcastle United side that has been struggling lately. As mentioned above, Chelsea is also one of the few clubs that have something to play for. With a Liverpool loss against Brighton and a Chelsea victory, the club will secure the final Champions League spot for next season. Chelsea’s opportunity to win should be relatively easy as Newcastle United have lost four consecutive matches and will have little to play for. Though Willian has been in and out of the starting lineup for Chelsea, the Brazilian started in the midweek fixture against Huddersfield and is expected to start again in Chelsea’s last ditch opportunity of securing Champions League qualification. Chelsea’s poor run of form in March put a huge dent in their chances of a top 4 finish, though they have since rebounded and have not lost in 7 consecutive matches (all competitions). This has seen the club make it to the finals of the FA Cup, where they will face Manchester United; though a top 4 finish is ideal, Chelsea will also keep in mind of their upcoming final. Willian’s presence in the starting lineup has been crucial to Chelsea’s success this season, and the Brazilian attacker leads Chelsea with assists this season. In addition, Willian has also found the back of the net six times, showing his ability to contribute to the scoresheet. His high crossing volume and set piece ability further add to the Brazilian’s floor and makes him a safe pick for the slate. This is evidenced through Willian’s last five starts, where he is averaging just under 7 crosses per match. A favorable matchup against Newcastle United in a must-win situation should allow for greater attacking ability from Willian. For these reasons, we recommend locking in the Brazilian in lineups as the second Must-Have.
