Son Heung-Min (DK: $7,400): With a break in Premier League action for the weekend, we’re treated with a four game slate for the FA Cup. Tottenham are unsurprisingly one of the heaviest favorites on the slate as they look to cruise by Wycombe, a club in the fourth tier of English football. Of the four matches, Tottenham vs Wycombe is projected to feature the most amount of goals, with Tottenham expected to maintain a clean sheet. This matchup profiles well for Tottenham attackers due to the vast disparity in talent. Spurs are expected to start their second team, but due to the amount of depth in the squad, the starting eleven will still be relatively strong. However, we are not expecting to see the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, and Christian Eriksen on the pitch. The South Korean forward has performed well for Tottenham this season, and recently found the back of the net as a substitute against Manchester City. In addition, Son scored in the previous FA Cup match against Aston Villa. Son has scored 3 goals in his last 6 appearances (all competitions), averaging a goal every 80 minutes during that span. The forward has 9 goals and 3 assists in 18 appearances for the club (including brief substitute appearances), and should be in line for a heavier responsibility in the Tottenham attack. Never shy to go for goal, Son is also averaging 2.5 shots per match, and is one of the favorites to get his name on the scoresheet for the slate. For these reasons, we recommend locking in the South Korean in your lineups as the first Must-Have.
Kieran Trippier (DK: $4,500): The second Must-Have is Kieran Trippier, the English full back for Tottenham. As mentioned above, Tottenham are one of the heaviest favorites on the slate along with Chelsea. To put it into context, Tottenham are third in the Premier League (first tier), while Wycombe are fifth in League Two (fourth tier). That comes out to over 60 clubs in between Spurs and Wanderers. As can be expected, Tottenham will dominate much of the game attacking wise, allowing for the full backs to push up the pitch and join the attack. Trippier has played sparingly for Tottenham this season with only 9 appearances in all competitions, though he regularly features for Spurs in domestic cups. Trippier also featured in Tottenham’s starting eleven earlier in the season for Champions League fixtures while Kyle Walker was sidelined with injury. In his last 6 starts, Trippier is averaging just under 6 crosses per match, while racking up 9 crosses in Tottenham’s FA Cup match against Aston Villa. The full back was even on corner kicks, which contributed to his cross total; this further adds to the English defender’s floor. At only $4,500, Trippier should be able to easily exceed value, considering the high likelihood that Tottenham will be able to maintain a clean sheet. The full back’s attacking upside provides a decent ceiling as well. For these reasons, we recommend locking in Kieran Trippier in your lineups.
